A change to the design—not a cure or a recreation of someone’s sight.

Original

A little perspective.

This is a visual experiment, not a vision test. The original photo stays the same while a mathematical model changes its colors.

The red–green views simulate deuteranopia and protanopia. Blue–yellow is a tritan-type approximation, not an exact depiction of tritanopia. People with the same diagnosis can have different experiences.

Your photo stays on your device. Try a JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF under 25 MB. Example photos and viewer art are AI-generated.

Use the handle with a mouse, touch, Enter, or Space. Compare keeps the left lens original. Facts stay until you change them; nothing disappears while you’re reading.

The three clarity views use softening, stronger softening, and softening with reduced contrast. They are not clinical severity levels. The clarity, contrast, glare, and field-of-view effects are teaching illustrations, not validated disease simulations. The field views hide detail in fixed image regions; they do not follow your gaze or show the brain’s adaptations. A veil marks reduced information, not what a person necessarily sees.

Behind the little facts

National Eye Institute: low vision and practical adaptations

National Eye Institute: color vision deficiency

Simulation: Machado, Oliveira, and Fernandes (2009), maximum preset strength in linear RGB. Tritan-model limitations.
